Make a Memorable Canvas Print for your Valentine

Picking a Valentine’s Day gift for a guy can be tricky – you want to give him something thoughtful and from the heart, but definitely nothing stuffed, glittered, or smothered in chocolate.

This year I decided to create a one-of-a-kind piece of art for my boyfriend. This is really easy to do at your local FedEx Office® because they can turn your favorite photo into a canvas print in just a couple of days. And to sweeten the deal, now through February 28, 2013 they are 50% off in store! (Get a coupon here.) ...read more

Save your ornaments with this kid-proof Christmas tree

Happy holidays! Christmas is just around the corner and this year I was inspired to create a special tree for my son to decorate. He loves to help decorate the Christmas tree, but he doesn’t get to hang as many ornaments as he would like because they are so fragile. I decided to make a tree just for him out of durable, kid-proof materials at FedEx Office®.

Here are the steps you can follow to create a kid-proof Christmas tree. (And there are no pesky needles or broken glass!)

Liz’s Big 8-0 Birthday Party (Yeehaw!)

As my mother’s 80th birthday approached, my siblings and I wanted to plan a party for her worthy of all her warmth, love and support over the years. Turning 80 is a big deal, right? ...read more

Make Your House a Home with a Personalized Photo Collage

Sometimes it is difficult to find artwork that is unique and personal. In my home, I have a couple of paintings I really like, but wanted to add something different created just for my family. I decided to make 3D letters made of a collage of photographs. You can choose color or black and white photos depending on your decorating preference.

Here are the steps to create your very own family masterpiece:  ...read more

Entertaining in style

I like to make many of my own designs but sometimes I just don’t have the time! I was looking for a simple idea for summer entertaining ideas and came across an idea at thoughtfullysimple.com that I would like to share.

This idea is for placemats that can be cute, classy, or fun. You can use it for summer parties like barbecues or graduations, birthday parties, or for your messy little one as they get older and their “tastes” change! This is a quick and easy way to personalize any occasion!

First, take a trip to your local craft or paper store. Pick out your favorite scrapbook paper (typically 12x12). I found adorable summer prints that were double sided with different patterns so they are versatile.

“Stencil” Me In

I remember how much fun stencils were when I was a kid. They helped you be creative while teaching you how to draw. I created a craft project to do with your kids, or even to advertise your business. The possibilities – and fun - are endless!  ...read more

Organization Solutions for a Hectic Summer Schedule

It almost seems counterintuitive but summer at our house requires more attention to a family schedule than any other time of the year. Unlike the school year, where my kids have a fairly consistent routine, summer is a jumble of fun activities like going to the lake, parties, mini vacations and camping. It can be hard to keep track of what is happening from week to week. This year, I thought it would be a great idea to implement a large calendar the whole family could add to and check on a regular basis. Rather than rely on a traditional paper calendar, I wanted something large that we could write on with dry erase markers while still having room for additional notes. ...read more

Making Art Come Alive with 3D Touches

Every small child I know has a special blanket or a stuffed animal that they must NOT, under any circumstances, be sent to bed without. My own daughter can't sleep without "Bun-Bun," her stuffed bunny. She also has a special blanket that has been loved into little bits. Bun-Bun and her blankie are inseparable and a must-have item every evening at bedtime. The comfort they both provide for her is so priceless to me, I thought it would be sweet to find a way to honor both items and the special place they have in our lives. A visit to the local FedEx Office® provided me with the perfect inspiration. When I realized they offered custom canvas art prints, I knew immediately that it would be the perfect medium for creating heirloom-worthy art to decorate my little girl's room. No matter what your child's special companion is (my son's is a stuffed dinosaur), here is a list to get you started:

Make Mardi Gras Memorable

I have been looking for any reason to throw a party lately. My husband is from the South, so I have been planning a Mardi Gras-themed party. I will be making his favorite spicy jambalaya and wanted some outrageous decorations to match. I decided to make stick masks for the women, and crowns for the men. I used the three colors of Mardi Gras – purple for Justice, green for Faith, and gold for Power – but you can go as wild as you want! ...read more

Give the Gift of Canvas Photo Art

I always enjoy taking photos to capture a beautiful sunset or memories with friends. Too often these photos sit on my computer untouched, but there are so many creative projects that can be made with a simple photo.

For my dad’s birthday, I made him a canvas photo print showing off his beloved dog, Boston. My dad has been interested in starting a photography business and this is a great way for him to display his work in a larger-than-life format (No exaggeration! Boston is only five pounds!). Another idea is making your kids’ artwork or family photo into art on canvas as a special gift for Valentine’s Day.
